May 7, 2024

The 2024 Met Gala, celebrating the Costume Institute's "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion" exhibition, witnessed a mesmerizing display of custom LOEWE looks that perfectly embodied the evening's dress code, "The Garden of Time." Under the creative direction of Jonathan Anderson, LOEWE's bespoke ensembles paid homage to fashion history and natural forms, captivating attendees and fashion enthusiasts alike.

Met Gala co-chair dame Anna Wintour, a renowned fashion journalist and the long-time editor-in-chief of Vogue magazine, graced the red carpet in a stunning custom LOEWE tuxedo. Inspired by an 1889 cape by Charles Frederick Worth and tailoring from the LOEWE Fall Winter 2024 women's collection, the wool tuxedo featured a silk satin shawl collar adorned with hand-dyed feathers, tonal beading, and pearl embroidery. The jacket was paired with a long sleeve dress in bias-cut silk satin, creating a look that effortlessly blended sophistication and whimsy.

Pop sensation Ariana Grande, known for her powerful vocals, daring fashion choices, and numerous awards in the music industry, made a jaw-dropping entrance in a custom LOEWE look inspired by the iridescence of mother-of-pearl. The ensemble featured a molded bustier in leather and mother-of-pearl, paired with a multi-layered pleated silk chiffon skirt hand-painted to mimic the surface of the iridescent shell. Grande's look was a testament to LOEWE's commitment to craftsmanship and innovative design.

LOEWE's global brand ambassadors also shone on the red carpet, each donning custom looks that showcased the brand's creativity and attention to detail. Taylor Russell stunned in a high-neck, 3D molded bodice printed to create a trompe l'oeil effect mimicking wood marquetry, paired with a draped silk crepe marocain skirt. Josh O'Connor's elongated tailcoat in fine wool, paired with pinstripe trousers, a caviar pearl beaded shirt, and hand-beaded Campo Biker Boots, drew inspiration from the exaggerated tailoring of the Fall Winter 2024 women's runway collection, emonstrating LOEWE's ability to reinterpret classic styles with a modern twist.

Other notable LOEWE looks included Greta Lee's column dress in fine white chantilly silk lace, embroidered with 3D flowers; Jamie Dornan's single-breasted black morning coat adorned with hand-embroidered caviar pearl embellishments; and Ayo Edebiri's intricate guipure lace halter-neck dress, hand-painted and hand-embroidered to create an optical illusion of 3D flowers.

As the Met Gala 2024 celebrated the meeting of fashion and nature, LOEWE's custom looks stood out as true embodiments of creativity, craftsmanship, and storytelling. With each celebrity showcasing the brand's dedication to preserving fashion history while pushing the boundaries of design, LOEWE once again solidified its position as a leader in the world of luxury fashion, demonstrating the power of fashion to inspire, innovate, and captivate audiences on a global scale.
