Valentino spring summer 2020

Pierpaolo Piccioli presented a fascinating collection for Valentino, SS2020. Starting with a white palette accentuated with gold details, Picciolo suddenly introduced bright vivid monochromatic looks sporadically through the first twenty or so looks.

The show evolved into sophisticated lace tops and skirts all walking in beautiful leather rope sandals. A tropical motif emerged with fun prints that seemed at least somewhat inspired by Henri Rosseau.

The theme evolved into elegant evening looks and sophisticated layering and details. Piccioli in later looks played with variations and themes from earlier looks in the show. The effect is an orchestral progression lending the show a certain cohesion, complementation and richness we haven’t witnessed in fashion for some time.
