Dive into a world of enchantment this fall with Acne Studios' FW23 campaign, spotlighting the radiant New York-based, South Sudanese model, Anok Yai.
Behind the Lens
Paris-based photographer Carlijn Jacobs, a long-time collaborator with Acne Studios, masterfully captures the campaign's mystical ambiance. Thanks to David White's exquisite set design, the images immerse viewers in an enchanted forest setting, echoing the fantasy forest from Acne Studios' FW23 runway show.
Inspirations from the North
Acne Studios' creative director, Jonny Johansson, draws profound inspiration from the bewitching dark winters of Sweden. He reflects, "With this collection, I was captivated by the ethereal beauty of Sweden's dark winters, where daylight is fleeting. The stark contrast between bustling cities and the serene pine forests became the backdrop for this season's narrative.”
Fashion Highlights
Anok Yai, the campaign's striking protagonist, embodies a unique style that celebrates diversity. Her presence underscores the importance of inclusive representation for black female models in fashion. With styling by Léopold Duchemin, she shines in crinkled and distressed leather ensembles, complemented by a leaf print delicate cut-out top. The sheer, gauze-like neon pink outfit, draped effortlessly over Yai, adds an avant-garde dimension, resonating with the season's spirit.
Introducing the Multipocket Bag
Another campaign standout is the Multipocket bag – an embodiment of vintage-modern elegance. Designed with distressed details, this satchel, reminiscent of classic camera cases, features intriguing ruched details, adding a contemporary spin.
