ALAÏA summer fall 2022

January 25, 2022

Maison ALAÏA presents the Summer Fall 2022 collection in Paris. Titled 'Tanagras,' the show pays ode to the "beauty of women's bodies." Tanagers are terra cotta statuettes produced in the 4th Century BC that depicted a variety of women (dancers, patricians, young girls, and goddesses) wearing ornamented drape.

In the 20th Century, Picasso took inspiration from Tanagras into his creamic works. Creative director of ALAÏA, Pieter Mulier, pays tribute to these creations as "sculpture becomes couture. The drape becomes a dress. Women remain at the center of creation. Carnal and desirable. With a divine and unique beauty."
