AMI Spring/Summer 2024 Collection: Celebrating Minimalism and Simplicity

June 27, 2023

AMI, known for its commitment to crafting articulate, comprehensive, and pragmatic wardrobes, pays homage to the influential minimalist movement of the 1990s in its latest Spring/Summer 2024 Collection. Founder and Creative Director Alexandre Mattiussi sets the stage for a show that captures the essence of simplicity, sobriety, and elegance.

Concept and Set: A Raw Industrial Celebration

The Tennis Club de Paris is the backdrop for AMI's Spring/Summer 2024 show. Nestled within a remarkable 1930s concrete building complex, the venue carries a rich fashion history, particularly from the 1990s. The minimalist spirit of the collection is echoed in the simple and industrial-like scenography. The vast, raw spaces of the Tennis Club create an atmosphere of emptiness and industrial restraint, allowing guests to focus on the collection solely. Grey carpeting covers the sports signage on the floors, minimizing distractions and emphasizing the unique sense of space. Accompanying the show's aesthetic, French electronic music producer Rone's minimalist melody, "I, Philip," sets the tone.

Casting: A Mix of Generations

AMI's casting reflects its commitment to an intergenerational mix and mood. Renowned French actor Vincent Cassel opens the show, while American model Guinevere Van Seenus, a familiar face from the 1990s and 2000s, graces the runway. Established models and rising stars, including Vittoria Ceretti, Akon Changkou, Liu Wen, and Jill Kortleve, share the spotlight, embodying the diverse AMI vision.

AMI's Friends: A Notable Presence

The show welcomes friends and ambassadors of the house, including esteemed French actress Catherine Deneuve and South Korean actor and Global Brand Ambassador Wooshik Choi. The guest list also features current recognizable faces such as Halle Bailey from "The Little Mermaid," Leïla Bekhti, Noah Schnapp, and Lucas Bravo. Additionally, notable sport, football, film, and cultural personalities, including Antoine Dupont, Samuel Umtiti, Joseph Lee, Benoît Magimel, Darren Barnet, Miriam Yeung, and Hyeri Lee, join Alexandre Mattiussi for this special occasion.

The Collection: Redefining the Essentials

AMI's Spring/Summer 2024 Collection builds upon the previous winter's efforts to refine and strengthen the wardrobe. Inspired by the extraordinary minimalism of the 90s, the collection reinterprets the brand's essential pieces with a connection to reality. The silhouette features sharply defined shoulders and fluid shapes closely following the body's curves and movements. Unisex propositions take center stage while women fully embrace their feminine sensuality. Pastels and natural summer colors contrast with brighter tones, creating an inviting graphic juxtaposition. Luxurious fabrics amplify the collection's lightness, while casual pieces borrow from tailoring, resulting in fluid and less structured designs.

Bags and Accessories: Understated Sophistication

AMI's accessories complement the minimalist aesthetic of the collection. The signature black and white AMI stripe is omnipresent, adorning bag models such as the Paris-Paris—a timeless representation of Parisian chic—and its supple version, the Paname-Paname, with functional appeal. The new monochrome Voulez-Vous, in lambskin and featuring a leather-wrapped chain, exudes contemporary elegance. The classical Déjà-Vu bag, presented in an AMI wide stripe version, pays homage to the Maison's first signature bag. The Grocery Bag, a blend of clutch and shopping tote, offers versatility and can be worn on the arm or shoulder.

The iconic black and white AMI signature stripe continues to make a statement in the accessory department. It adorns the cylindrical heel of a woman's shoe and serves as a recurring creative theme in jewelry, adding a strong identity to earrings, bracelets, and necklaces. Another distinctive signature, the Ami de Coeur clasp, embellishes various accessories, showcasing attention to detail. Finally, AMI introduces its first range of sunglasses, a stylish and graphical unisex line that captures the spirit and colors of the season.

With its Spring/Summer 2024 Collection, AMI embraces the allure of minimalism and simplicity. Rooted in the real world, the brand creates garments and accessories to be worn, enjoyed, mixed, and matched. With its raw industrial ambiance, the fashion show at the Tennis Club de Paris symbolizes this spirit, showcasing AMI's commitment to refining the wardrobe and focusing on the essentials.
