Renowned London-based fashion house, self-portrait, has unveiled its latest campaign, “At Home, with self-portrait”, a sublime portrayal of elegance, memories, and intimate moments. Collaborating with esteemed British visual artist Nick Waplington, the campaign features the ever-enigmatic Emily Ratajkowski, embodying the spirit and vision of the brand’s founder, Han Chong.
A Glimpse into Han Chong’s Past
Inspired by his childhood memories, Han Chong, founder and Creative Director of self-portrait, reminisces about the significance of dressing up, a tradition deeply rooted in his family. “I grew up in a household which took great pride in dressing up for any and every occasion. This has fuelled my work at self-portrait,” stated Han. His vision was to infuse the essence of celebration into the everyday, translating cherished moments of strong women celebrating life.
A New Face for self-portrait
Emily Ratajkowski, the campaign’s star, shared her excitement about working with Waplington and being part of the self-portrait family. “self-portrait brought together a very special team and I’m thrilled to be a part of their campaign,” Emily expressed. Having co-hosted the self-portrait Summer Party earlier this year alongside Han Chong and British Vogue’s Editor-in-Chief Edward Enninful OBE, Ratajkowski continues to be a significant presence for the brand.
Capturing Intimate Moments
Waplington’s exceptional skillset and aesthetic bring to life Han’s vision for the campaign. With a remarkable portfolio that includes exhibitions at prestigious venues like Tate Britain and the Guggenheim Museum in New York, Waplington’s captures of young friends and Emily resonate with Han’s memories, painting a vivid picture of evenings spent in celebration.
The campaign primarily features exquisite pieces from self-portrait’s eveningwear and kids’ collections. Showcasing designs ranging from sparkling gowns of the Resort 2024 ready-to-wear collection to the intricate knitwear of the brand’s childrenswear, the campaign is a testament to self-portrait’s commitment to elegance and craftsmanship.
A Commitment Beyond Fashion
Founded in 2013 by Han Chong, self-portrait has positioned itself as a brand synonymous with dressing women for all occasions. Beyond its fashion endeavors, self-portrait is dedicated to sustainability, integrating responsibly sourced fibres and materials. The brand’s initiatives, including a scholarship program with Central Saint Martins, showcase its commitment to nurturing and supporting creative talent.
