JM: HI GIUSEPPE, CAN YOU START BY TELLING ME ABOUT AYANEGUI WHERE DID IT ALL START?
G:Hi Joel, it started when I was 17 skating on the streets thinking about what humanity needed. That turned into menswear with developing the structure to create a visual school of thought through clothing.
JM: WERE YOU ALWAYS INTERESTED IN MENSWEAR?
G: I always loved everything about men so when I grew up I started to make menswear because by the clothes you can change the mindset.
JM: AS HUMANS WE ALL HAVE MASCULINE AND FEMININE ELEMENTS – IT IS THE TENSION BETWEEN THESE THAT MAKES UP THE ESSENCE OF LIFE.
G: I cannot see it as an tension, I think we are more like a collision of galaxies to make one that is bigger, our minds and energies are +masculine or -feminine so in union we’ll work better.
JM: THE BRAND IS BASED ON ‘THE PHYSICAL LAWS, ORDER AND BALANCE OF THE WORLD CAN YOU TELL ME MORE ABOUT THAT AND HOW IT IS APPLIED TO YOUR DESIGNS?
G: Every collection is connected by a card into a story which brings you a kind of education of the universe.
JM: YOU WOULD LIKE TO EXPRESS ‘THE MENTAL STATE OF A PERSON’ THROUGH THE GARMENTS – CAN YOU ELABORATE ON THIS?
G: Yeah, you could simplify minds touched by art and a philosophy, through our clothes we bring you both of them.
JM: CLOTHING CAN BE SUCH A STRONG TOOL FOR COMMUNICATION. CLOTHES CAN ALSO BE WEAPONS.
G: Exactly, I try to express to people the same feelings I have in the collections.
JM: DID YOU DEVELOP THIS APPROACH WHILE YOU WERE IN SCHOOL?
G: I Left ordinary school at 18 but I started to join ancestral culture clubs so that’s where I learned
JM: TELL ME ABOUT YOUR AUTUMN-WINTER 17/18 COLLECTION, WHERE DID YOUR INSPIRATION BEGIN?
G: Our collection demonstrates the freedom and subtlety we can have but not the naked eye, something more sought after, something internal embodied in our aesthetic expression. Diablo is the name of our latest collection and it shows you that appearances are deceptive and a lot of bonds which are more loose that they seem to be.
