In a seismic shift for corporate dressing, BOSS has unveiled its Spring-Summer 2025 collection at Milan's historic Palazzo del Senato. The show, aptly titled "Out of Office," marks a decisive step away from the brand's traditional power-suit aesthetic, embracing a more fluid approach to professional attire that seamlessly transitions from boardroom to bar.
The New 9-to-5 (and Beyond)
Gone are the days of rigid, double-breasted suits and sharp shoulders. BOSS's latest offering introduces a softer silhouette that prioritizes comfort and style. The collection's hero piece—a relaxed double-breasted jacket in lightweight fabrics—embodies this new ethos, gently draping the body rather than constraining it.
Marco Falcioni, SVP of Creative Direction at HUGO BOSS, explains the shift: "This is a reset: A real BOSS is empowered and self-confident; they know when to log off and claim back their time, go out and relax, free from the hierarchy of rules and regulations." This philosophy is evident in every stitch and fold of the collection.
Blurring the Lines: Work Meets Play
For the first time in BOSS runway history, sportswear elements make a bold appearance. Yoga mats and tennis racket bags share the spotlight with tailored pieces, while drawstring details and hoodies inject a casual flair into the traditionally formal BOSS aesthetic.
Womenswear pushes boundaries with raised trouser hems, wrapped blazers, and elegantly draped dresses. A standout backless tunic dress, featuring intricate frontal pleating, epitomizes the collection's balance of sophistication and ease.
Menswear, too, embraces this relaxed approach. Casual shirts with concealed button plackets and drawstring hems are paired with tailored knee-length trousers, creating a look that's both polished and comfortable. Evening-wear gets a makeover with deconstructed silk jackets sporting shawl lapels—perfect for those after-work soirées.
Accessories That Work Overtime
The accessory line further reinforces the "Out of Office" theme. Structured briefcases give way to deconstructed document holders and sports-inspired bags. Footwear prioritizes comfort with low-profile sneakers and leather slides that wouldn't look out of place poolside.
A Palette for Every Mood
The color story tells a tale of tranquility and sophistication. Light and navy blues evoke clear skies and open horizons, while earthen browns ground the collection in natural warmth. Whites and blacks provide classic contrast, with subdued greens adding a fresh touch.
Star Power on and off the Runway
The show itself reflected BOSS's wide-ranging appeal. Athletes and celebrities, including Taylor Fritz and Khaby Lame, walked the runway, while the front row boasted an impressive lineup featuring David Beckham, Anna Wintour, Khalid, and Kaya Scodelario.
A New Chapter in Workwear
As the workforce continues to evolve, so too must our definition of professional attire. BOSS's Spring-Summer 2025 collection acknowledges this change by embracing it with new tactile offerings. By seamlessly blending elements of leisure and luxury, BOSS has created a wardrobe that works as hard as its wearer, from dawn to dusk and beyond.
