In an exciting new collaboration, Bottega Veneta has partnered with legendary lighting manufacturer Flos to reimagine Gino Sarfatti’s groundbreaking Model 600 lamp. This partnership brings together two icons of Italian craftsmanship to celebrate a design that has illuminated spaces since 1966—the same year Bottega Veneta opened its atelier in Vicenza, Italy.
The reimagined Model 600 features Bottega Veneta’s signature Intrecciato weave in a luxurious Intreccio Foulard variation. Just as Bottega Veneta’s first handbags revolutionized leather craftsmanship with their supple forms, Sarfatti’s original lamp broke boundaries in lighting design. This ingenious design allowed the lamp to be effortlessly adjustable, defying the rigidity of conventional lighting and delivering unparalleled flexibility and functionality.
Gino Sarfatti, born in Venice in 1912, is widely regarded as one of Italy's most influential lighting designers. His company, Arteluce, founded in 1939 and later acquired by Flos in 1973, was a pioneer in experimenting with materials and form. Sarfatti’s visionary designs reshaped the landscape of Italian lighting, much as Bottega Veneta has transformed the world of luxury craftsmanship with its dedication to artisanal excellence.
In this contemporary reinterpretation, the lamp retains Sarfatti’s pioneering spirit while incorporating modern LED technology for enhanced efficiency and nuanced lighting. This new technology allows for refined control over both warm, ambient light, and focused illumination.
The new Model 600 is available in two sizes and a rich palette of colors, including classic black and grey, alongside bold red and emerald green, as well as Bottega Veneta's signature shade of green. Each hue enhances the intricate leather craftsmanship that defines the base, allowing the lamp to serve as both a functional object and a statement of refined elegance.
By combining Flos' technical expertise with Bottega Veneta’s mastery of leather craftsmanship, this collaboration stands as a tribute to the intersection of two masters of Italian craftsmanship, merging the timeless beauty of Sarfatti’s design with Bottega Veneta’s artistry.
