Chief Creative Officer, Raf Simons presented the Spring 2019 CalvinKlein 205W39NYC show in New York. Inspired by two iconic American films, JAWS (1975) and The Graduate, the collection’s concept and aesthetic “represents transgression, the idea of the predator, and a fundamental questioning of authority – a rebellion that is quintessentially American.”
The collection reimagined silhouettes and ensembles across the men’s and women’s wardrobe. Tweed paired with scuba, graduate caps walked with boots and and tank tops, and light pleated skirts sunk beneath heavy knitwear. Explore the full collection below. Images courtesy of Calvin Klein.
“I’ve always been fascinated by the dress codes of different generations – of mothers and daughters, fathers and sons; how the changes between generations of families reflect the changes of American society. I love the movie The Graduate and the different family dynamics at play. Like the film, this collection explores taboos and temptations, shift in culture and community, but ultimately, the overarching theme is love.” – Raf Simons
