Chet Lo entitled his SS25 collection, “Mai's Blossoms,” dedicating it to his mother Mai-Wah Cheung. The collection is inspired by her career and progression through a male-dominated industry as one of the first women in computer science. Lo's mother's 'powerful office wardrobe' was given a 'modern twist' to create this collection. To mimic the tones of usual office wear, contrary to Lo's other collections, the color palette was quite dark and deep, mainly composed of blues, blacks, greys, whites and browns.

The Duality of Silhouettes

The silhouettes are used by Lo as a metaphor for the dualities in his mother's life. They varied from flowing fabrics that seem like they are just draped and fastened around the body, juxtaposed to other sharp silhouettes with militant spikes. All the silhouettes flattered the models' bodies. Shirts that seemed to burst open around the chest and even the gatherings on the dress emphasized their figures.

The Glitch Pattern

The 'glitch' pattern is a fundamental component of this collection, an ode to his mother's career in computer sciences. The pattern comes in textural and printed forms, reflecting an aesthetic associated with digital media and devices. For instance, asymmetric horizontal lines cascading down the dress were distorted by the renowned Chet Lo spikes, resembling a screen. The glitch pattern was also transferred to the hair styling, as the pattern was recreated by Anna Cofone. Fruit motifs were also included in the show, although less abundantly, to demonstrate his mother's later shift to her passion for painting after her career.

The show was closed with Chet proudly parading with his mother around the show space, demonstrating his admiration. This collection was an endearing homage to a woman very close to Chet's heart, utilizing the concept of digital media to create an inventive new take on office wear.
