Courrèges Spring Summer 2025 – Dreams of Summer Escape

June 22, 2024

In a season marked by endless grey skies, Nicolas Di Felice injects a ray of sunshine into Courrèges' SS25 pre-collection. Drawing inspiration from Albert Camus' notion of an "invincible summer" within, Di Felice reimagines classic daywear with touches of seaside escapism and 70s flair.

Evolving Silhouettes with Lightness and Movement

Building on themes from FW24, Di Felice revisits his signature "upside-down" deconstruction in airy fabrications that take flight. Floaty satin, workwear canvas and raw indigo denim breathe new life into familiar shapes. The collection's breezy silhouettes cut a sharp, dynamic figure against a stark backdrop captured by photographer Mark Borthwick.

At the heart of both men's and womenswear are the "magic square" mesh tops, some adorned with abstract graphics inspired by hiking signage. These ethereal pieces embody the collection's spirit of adventure and escape.

Di Felice weaves subtle nods to vintage scuba gear and watersports throughout, infusing athletic accents into polished daywear. Asymmetric button tabs echo Courrèges' SS70 collection, while layered waistbands and oversized belt loops evoke climbing harnesses. Scuba-inspired details like specialized pockets and slip-on diving shoes (reimagined in supple nappa leather) hint at seaside expeditions.

The Journey from Storm to Sunshine

The collection opens with enveloping trench coats that shelter from lingering winter storms. But as it unfolds, Di Felice leads us on a treasure hunt for symbols of summer joy. Through meticulous attention to detail, he crafts a visual narrative that speaks to universal desires for adventure and escape.

With the SS25 pre-collection, Courrèges invites us to rediscover the thrill of summer, even amid the grind of daily life. Di Felice proves once again his talent for infusing the brand's iconic aesthetic with fresh energy and emotion.
