Cynthia Erivo Conjures Dark Glamour in Custom Thom Browne at ‘Wicked’ Mexico Premiere
November 12, 2024
Cynthia Erivo brought theatrical drama to the yellow brick road at the Mexico City premiere of “Wicked,” wearing a mesmerizing custom Thom Browne creation. The actress, who portrays the iconic Elphaba in the highly anticipated film adaptation, embodied the character's powerful presence with an expertly crafted ensemble that merged haute couture with fantastical elements.
The gown features a strapless black silk chiffon dress adorned with intricate multicolored crystal, cut bead, and sequin embroidery across the corset bodice. Its dramatic silhouette is defined by an exaggerated hip design, while black silk moiré-covered buttons add a touch of classic Thom Browne tailoring.
To complete the look, Erivo wore a matching black silk moiré cropped jacket with a hood, perfectly complementing her role as the misunderstood witch of Oz. The most striking detail, however, was the sculptural witch hands, with black and emerald crystal-tipped nails. These dramatic accessories not only enhanced the visual impact but also evoked the character’s mystique, adding a layer of dark enchantment to the ensemble.
In addition to Erivo’s striking appearance, “Wicked” co-star Ariana Grande also made a statement at the premiere, showcasing her own glamorous take on the iconic characters. For more on Ariana’s look, read our full coverage here.
