Last night, Kim Jones showed the Dior men's spring 2023 collection in Venice Beach, California. For the collection shown on the iconic Windward Avenue, Jones invited Eli Russell Linnetz, ERL's creative director to guest design the collection. A dialogue emerges between the savoir-faire of Parisian haute couture and Californian culture.
"A slouching, easeful, everyday sensibility belies the precision of tailoring and mastery of fabric in the ateliers' Dior. Cannage is transformed in quilting, satin and leather, on skate sneakers or crystal-encrusted trousers. At the crossroads of historical and contemporary eras, the pieces revisit some of the house's archives, notably those Gianfranco Ferré, from the bar jacket to accessories. An exciting renaissance of classic Dior styles."
The laid back Dior men's spring 2023 collection looks to innovative styles inspired by the casual wear of southern California. Loose knits, skate shoes, oversized silhouettes, and beachy eyewear took Dior into a new era for spring. Comfort is key for this collection. Nods to vintage, casual suiting, and skate culture took the spotlight. There were many homages to Virgil Abloh that mend seamlessly with the codes of Dior men's under Kim Jones.
