For Spring/Summer 2020 Prada went back to its roots for inspiration. A modern sensibility rooted in the blazer and overcoat quite literally studded the collection with oversized white buttons. Fanciful prints and patterns were applied and embellished on outerwear while delicate tunics graced several looks.
Prada has always conveyed a sense of timelessness albeit flirting with stubborn conservatism at times. This collection seemed muted in places but bold with bright colors in others. This was a collection not meant to take so literally but to have fun with modernizing classic statement pieces.
Our favorite looks were a laser-cut calfskin jacket and matching skirt which was accentuated with bold pearl buttons and a contrasting white collar. Our second favorite walked right after; an orange dyed leather overcoat also with pearl buttons and a crustacean necklace to match.
We also have to mention the vibrating purple coat, which exemplified the point we came to earlier: don’t take yourself too seriously.
