May 14, 2024
Gucci's highly anticipated Cruise 2025 fashion show, held at the iconic Tate Modern in London, was a star-studded affair that showcased Creative Director Sabato De Sarno's visionary take on the brand's heritage and his personal connection to the city. The event, which took place on May 13th, 2024, drew an impressive list of celebrities, fashion icons, and influencers from around the world, all eager to witness the unveiling of Gucci's latest collection.
Among the attendees were pop sensation Dua Lipa, Hollywood legend Demi Moore, and fashion royalty Kate Moss and her daughter Lila Moss. Other notable guests included actresses Daisy Edgar-Jones and Eliza Gonzalez, model and influencer Caroline Daur, and K-pop star Lee Know of Stray Kids.
The show, set against the backdrop of the Tate Modern's Turbine Hall and Tanks, juxtaposed the building's modern architecture with a poetic panorama of greenery, symbolizing the duality of London and the collection itself. De Sarno's vision for Cruise 2025 explored the dichotomies of rigor and extravagance, strength and delicacy, and Englishness with an Italian accent, all while paying homage to Gucci's founder Guccio Gucci's inspirations from his time in London.
Today we are here to celebrate that spirit. Tate Modern is the perfect cross-section to narrate the city’s essence, with its great Turbine Hall that welcomes and gathers everyone, and with the Tanks, generators of ideas.
The collection featured an array of stunning pieces that subverted traditional codes of dressing, with short coats tailored in technical gabardine adorned with wild chamomile flora motifs, 3D flower embroideries in laser-cut organza, and hand-moulded sequins. The iconic Gucci lobster-clasp was reimagined as a feminine pearl necklace, while denim, tartans, and the Gucci Blondie bag were given a fresh, modern twist.
As the models took to the runway, the audience was captivated by the exquisite craftsmanship and attention to detail that went into each garment. The show was a testament to De Sarno's ability to reinterpret Gucci's codes for a new generation while staying true to the brand's rich heritage.
The Gucci Cruise 2025 show in London was more than just a fashion event; it was a celebration of creativity, individuality, and the enduring power of fashion to bring people together. With its star-studded guest list and breathtaking collection, Gucci once again proved why it remains at the forefront of the fashion world, continually pushing boundaries and captivating audiences with its unparalleled vision and style.
