“How you see things – and from where you see them – has never been more important,” says Artistic Director of Fendi Menswear, Silvia Venturini Fendi. Referring to the sights seen from the Fendi headquarters of the beautiful seven hills of Rome, this statement can also be applied to the myriad of influences and perspectives in the men’s SS22 collection.
A luxurious color palette of soft pastels took the collection to a “playful escape from reality.” Sharp cuts, exposed midriff, and plenty of cashmere made this one of Fendi’s strongest men’s collections in recent memory. Coupled with the intoxicating nine-minute track composed by Alessandro Cortini, it’s easy to see how one can be transported to the Roman landscape. The map you see below is a cartographic drawing of the Roman landscape “plucked from the Fendi archives.” It’s this chaotic yet harmonious idea that Silvia Venturini Fendi has capitalized on from look one through forty-five.
