Florence Pugh arrived at the Thunderbolts premiere in Los Angeles on April 28th in a mint-green gown from McQueen’s Fall 2025 collection. Amid the spectacle, her appearance stood out for its clarity, elegance, and restraint.

The gown’s corseted bodice gave shape to a layered skirt in silk georgette. The design’s movement—a result of sculptural pleats and fine ruffles—lent a sense of ease to its technical construction. It’s the kind of subtle tension McQueen has long explored, and under the house’s new creative direction of Seán McGirr, it feels lighter, more open.

Thunderbolts, which opens nationwide on May 2nd, brings together several of Marvel’s more complicated characters, including Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan), Red Guardian (David Harbour), and U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell), with Pugh’s Yelena Belova stepping into a leadership role. Early reviews have been positive—the film currently holds an 88% score on Rotten Tomatoes—and much of the praise centers on its darker, more reflective tone.

Director Jake Schreier has framed the film as a character study as much as an action piece. “The last thing we wanted,” he said in a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, “was to flatten what these characters are going through.” That care is evident in Pugh’s performance, which balances sharp wit with a kind of emotional fatigue that feels earned rather than performed.

She’s been similarly measured throughout the film’s press tour, skipping gimmicks in favor of striking silhouettes and thoughtful styling. In London, she wore sheer black lace, however, this McQueen moment feels like the standout.

As Marvel shifts into a new chapter, and its stars find space to redefine their roles both on- and off-screen, Pugh stands out not just for her talent or style, but for the way she seems to approach both with intent. Nothing showy, nothing careless. Just sharp choices, thoughtfully made.
