Givenchy unveils its global advertising campaign for the Fall-Winter 2023 men’s collection. Captured in sleek and minimalist style by Givenchy Creative Director Matthew M. Williams, the campaign features the iconic K-Pop pioneer, Taeyang, who embodies the new culture of masculine style and serves as an ambassador for the House.
K-Pop Pioneer Taeyang Stars as Ambassador
Matthew M. Williams explains, “Taeyang is a friend, and to me, his creativity and personal values make him an ideal ambassador for Givenchy. You can feel his presence: he has this easy, modern elegance and an edge — he clearly feels comfortable in the clothes and really personifies the House’s new aesthetic.”
The campaign was shot in Seoul, showcasing the collection’s critical sartorial codes and themes. With his barrier-breaking charisma, Taeyang exudes the individualistic spirit of Givenchy, captivating viewers and drawing them into his orbit.
New Elegance in Monochrome Compositions
The images feature subtle, monochrome compositions that highlight Givenchy’s new elegance. In one striking close-up, Taeyang dons a sharply tailored black suit created by Givenchy’s men’s couture atelier on Avenue George V in Paris. Another image showcases contemporary elegance with a modern attitude, as he wears an earthy green overcoat paired with a plush turtleneck sweater and the new G Tears gold-finish necklace from the Fall-Winter 2023 runway collection.
A seated shot provides a closer look at Givenchy’s season-defining camouflage, demonstrating Matthew M. Williams’ intricate fusion of denim with the Japanese boro “tattered and repaired” technique, reimagined into trousers. A downy goose feather gilet, meticulously crafted by hand on a 4G-grid base in the Givenchy men’s atelier, is elegantly slipped under a short, tailored jacket. Essential accessories featured in the campaign include the silver-tone Giv-Cut earrings, G Tears necklaces and rings, the iconic Pandora bag in elegant-grained leather, and Giv-Cut sunglasses, all showcasing Givenchy’s exceptional craftsmanship.
The Givenchy Fall-Winter 2023 men’s campaign will be released online and in print starting on August 23rd, with outdoor displays in Seoul beginning on July 15th. givenchy.com
