Daring leather, sculptural details, and refined tailoring dominated the 2025 Grammy Awards red carpet. The music industry's brightest stars transformed classic red carpet conventions with bold, architectural choices.

Sitar virtuoso and seven-time Grammy nominee Anoushka Shankar brought classical elegance in a stunning Dior creation by Maria Grazia Chiuri. The chartreuse tulle gown featured an expertly draped asymmetrical neckline and billowing silhouette. Shankar completed the ensemble with delicate golden arm cuffs that complemented the dress' celebratory tone.

The evening's fashion narrative moved from classical elegance to avant-garde innovation, with several artists pushing creative boundaries. Shifting from ethereal draping to structured sophistication, perennial musical sensation, Billie Eilish dressed in Prada and channeled her signature avant-garde style. Clothed in a striking black oversized jacket with relaxed navy trousers and a white shirt, the nine-time Grammy-winning artist accessorized with a distinctive silver chain and coordinating black lace-ups– seamlessly merging streetwear sensibilities with red carpet sophistication. In another noteworthy Prada moment, boundary-pushing artist Troye Sivan appeared in a periwinkle silk organza suit paired with a purple crepe de chine scarf, adding a touch of romanticism to his ensemble.

The red carpet's edgier moments showcased how traditional eveningwear can be reimagined through modern materials and silhouettes. Miley Cyrus sent a palpable jolt through the red carpet wearing Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello in a daring leather dress with cutout details and architectural crosses at the bodice. Its floor-length silhouette maintained classic elegance while introducing modern elements through material choice and careful reveals. Also in Saint Laurent, Charlotte Lawrence captured ethereal drama in a flowing black silk cape design, while The Dare (Harrison Patrick Smith) opted for classic refinement in a dapper grain de poudre tuxedo.

The power of refined tailoring emerged as a key theme, with several artists opting for sophisticated suiting. Nominated for two Grammys- one for her sophomore solo album The Collective and for her single "Bye bye," rock legend Kim Gordon chose CELINE by Hedi Slimane. Complete with horns and delicate earrings, the musician donned an impeccably tailored black tuxedo ensemble with a silk georgette bow blouse.

The fashion narrative took a spectacular turn with Doechii's appearance in a custom Thom Browne creation. The Florida rapper wore a masterfully constructed grey pinstripe corset dress with sculptural hip detailing over a crisp white oxford shirt. Her look was completed with coordinating pinstripe tie and platform penny loafers, while red, white and blue accents added Browne's signature elements to the architectural ensemble.

Colombian superstar J Balvin brought refined drama in Dior Men by Kim Jones. The musician appeared in a sweeping black silk coat layered over a wool and silk peak lapel Oblique tuxedo. His monochromatic ensemble was punctuated by a silver brooch and completed with a crisp cotton shirt, silk bow tie, and polished leather Derbies.

Olivia Rodrigo made a striking entrance in Versace, channeling both elegance and daring in a halter neck backless stretch silk gown. The piece, pulled from the house's Fall-Winter 2000 collection, featured diamond cleavage detailing and the brand's signature pleating, demonstrating how archival pieces can feel thoroughly contemporary on the red carpet.

The evening also saw strong menswear moments from the house of GUCCI. Kaytranada appeared in a custom black coat with intricate embroidery detail, paired with a black wool suit and tailored shirt and a distinctive knot collar. His studded loafers added a rebellious touch to the polished ensemble.

The evening's glamour continued with "Espresso" singer Sabrina Carpenter making a memorable appearance to accept her Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album in Versace. For her third appearance of the evening, Miley Cyrus appeared on stage in ALAÏA, wearing a custom-made Déesse gown by Pieter Mulier. The dramatic black dress featured a plunging neckline and was cinched at the waist with mirror leather belts, flowing into a graceful jersey skirt that created an elegant silhouette against the golden stage lighting.

The evening's fashion narrative extended beyond the red carpet, culminating in a performance by Lady Gaga delivered in a striking stage moment in Valentino. She appeared in a romantic white gown adorned with delicate floral embroidery and dramatic ruffled details at the neckline. She paired the dress with a matching knitted cap, while Bruno Mars complemented her look in a refined beige suit and western-inspired hat, creating a cohesive visual narrative for their performance.

Bruno Mars appeared in Saint Laurent throughout the evening, arriving earlier on the red carpet in pieces from Anthony Vaccarello's collection. The singer wore a satin crepon jacket paired with an Yves collar shirt in contrasting matte and shiny shagreen silk. He completed his look with baggy pants also in satin crepon and Rainer boots in patent leather, highlighting the house's modern formal wear.
