Harry Styles stars in Gucci‘s new advertising campaign for men’s tailoring at one of Great Britains’ cultural institutions, the fish & chip shop. Set in North London and known locally as a “chippy,” the English takeaway shops have been serving battered cod, fried chips, and mushy peas since 1860. The ambiance, aesthetic, and quirkiness of the short film and images are a seamless fit into Alessandro Michele‘s vision for Gucci.
Throughout the video and images, shot by Glen Luchford, Harry Styles wears tailored Gucci outfits, including two suits – one a wool mohair white, red, and black mini pied de poule (houndstooth) – the other, an ink-grey bee check. Also worn is a splash-dark beige macro gingham sharkskin dressing gown, worn as a coat, a decorative dark wool mohair jacket with embroidered collar detail, and a white-oatmeal hued macro bird’s eye wool suit with MLB NY Yankees patches.
The film and photographs show Styles bringing his pet chicken and dog into the shop with him and ordering food and sharing it with animals – a sequence that recalls many photographs and scenes from British films. Explore the campaign below.
