Helmut Newton Foundation presents “Body Performance”
On November 29, “Body Performance” opens at the Helmut Newton Foundation in Berlin. The ambitious exhibition features works from a wide range of international artists including Vanessa Beecroft, Yang Fudong, Inez & Vinoodh, Jurgen Klauke, Robert Longo, Robert Mapplethorpe, Helmut Newton, Barbara Probst, Viviane Sassen, Bernd Uhlig, Erwin Wurm, and previous RAIN contributor, Cindy Sherman.
Shown for the first time in Germany, the exhibition traces the complex and intimate conversations between the medium of photography and the temporality of performance. The common denominator takes the human body as subject and its exploratory boundaries as its departure. Various art movements are cited such as the Dadaists, Surrealists, the short lived Viennese Actionists, and contemporary art.
The resulting exhibitions features works by thirteen internationally acclaimed artists that find their home at the Helmut Newton Foundation – a supporter of the display of fine art photography in all its many forms.
RAIN was granted a sneak peak of the exhibition through a curated selection of the works which you can view below.
