KIDILL SS25: A Punk-Infused Collaboration with Ho99o9

June 20, 2024

Designer Hiroaki Sueyasu's KIDILL presented its Spring/Summer 2025 collection in Paris, drawing inspiration from a special encounter and years of exchange with the experimental duo Ho99o9, consisting of theOGM (BlueFace) and Yeti Bones (Eaddy). The collection showcases a fascinating fusion of adoration and sublimation, resulting in new creations that perfectly encapsulate the essence of KIDILL's aesthetic.

Embodying Progress and Inimitable Beauty

Ho99o9's frenetic appearance, music, performance, and costumes have been a driving force behind KIDILL's SS25 collection. The duo's desire for progress and their unique sense of beauty resonated with Sueyasu, sparking unprecedented imagination and creativity. The collection features iconic wedding dresses that eclipse the body, remarkably unique DIY live costumes, and a myriad of zippers, padlock fastening front details, sleeveless denim vests, and a symbolic use of laces that heavily infuse the evolution of the customizing spirit.

A Tokyo-ness in the Frame of Mind

Interestingly, Sueyasu feels "a Tokyo-ness" in the presence and frame of mind of Ho99o9, linking it to the essence of Harajuku's street style, particularly the Lolita style. This sensory subjectivity coexists in the collection through Kae Tanaka's graphics, dresses, and decors, embodying the "philosophy of the consistency in the unity of choosing and wearing clothes."

Deconstructed Vintage and Collaborative Pieces

Sueyasu uninhibitedly expanded his designs with items deconstructed from vintage metal band T-shirts, a bandolier bag that holds tattered and eroded textures and bullets, sleeveless tailored jackets, and vintage trousers created by tailors. The collection also features collaborations with UMBRO, HIZUME, and others, showcasing track jackets, pants, game shirts, ironic one-of-a-kind masks, and hats.

The Power of "999"

The code "999," masked in Ho99o9, is a premonition of the next stage of evolution and an as-yet-unseen setting. This angel number, an inversion of the devil's number 666, represents the boundless context of 1000-1, loaded with infinite possibilities of progressing mysticism and the current state of mind of Sueyasu.

KIDILL's Spring/Summer 2025 collection is a testament to the power of collaboration and the enduring influence of punk in fashion. With its fusion of Ho99o9's frenetic style and the essence of Tokyo's street fashion, the collection offers a glimpse into the future of heavy and alternative fashion, cementing KIDILL's position as a trailblazer in the industry.
