Dior men’s spring summer 2022

June 27, 2021

For spring summer 2022, Artistic Director of Dior, Kim Jones, teamed up with musician Travis Scott to show a collection full of wonder. The fifty-one look collection drew inspiration from one of Christian Dior's first destinations to celebrate his debut collection, Texas. As no surprise to fans of Travis Scott, Texas is also his home state. His breakthrough album, Astroworld is based on a theme park that became a cultural Mecca for the city.

The collection itself continues the language of tailoring that Jones has instilled over the past few seasons. A simple yet sensual approach to Jones' men's collections embodies poetic gestures with a commercial touch.

Texas is ultimately a place of mystery and solitude. This collection certainly picks up on this feeling and also its landscape. Rattlesnake prints, abstract sketches of bulls (or longhorns?), Cactus Jack, and really the colors of the Great Plains (sans highlighter yellow) and wide skies all find a home in this collection. It's difficult not to be reminded of Wim Wenders' Paris, Texas – not only because here is a collection shown in Paris referencing Texas so hard but also because the sense of wandering isn't lost, either.
