LOEWE pushes creative boundaries at Milan Design Week with LOEWE TEAPOTS, an exhibition showcasing the work of 25 renowned artists, designers, and architects. Opening on April 8th at the historic Palazzo Citterio, this marks the ninth installment in the Spanish luxury house's celebrated Salone del Mobile series.

The teapot, a seemingly humble object, becomes the centerpiece of this creative exploration. Each piece transforms this everyday vessel into a conceptual masterpiece, honoring global tea traditions while pushing material boundaries.

British painter Rose Wylie reimagines traditional Royal Albert china, exaggerating proportions and adding whimsical detailing. South Korean ceramic artist Jane Yang-D'Haene stretches the teapot's form with frayed clay ribbons, pushing the limits of craftsmanship. Japanese master Akio Niisato’s piece features perforations that turn the solid teapot into a mesmerizing interplay of light and shadow, while South African artist Madoda Fani leaves his creation unglazed, allowing the porous clay to interact with tea—an exploration of absorption and transformation.

Handles and spouts are radically reinterpreted. Architect David Chipperfield contrasts cobalt blue ceramic with an unexpected copper handle, while Shozo Michikawa’s woven leather elements bridge industrial design with artisanal craft.

LOEWE extends the tea theme beyond the exhibition. Visitors to Palazzo Citterio can purchase exclusive homeware, including leather-woven coasters and tea cosies featuring botanical charms like camomile and bergamot flowers. The house also collaborates with Galician artisans on a series of teapots finished in raw clay, silver, or gold glazes—reminiscent of the ceramic tiles adorning CASA LOEWE facades worldwide. For tea connoisseurs, a partnership with Kyoto’s Kaikado offers tin-plated tea caddies with brass and leather detailing, while fragrance lovers can indulge in a special-edition Earl Grey candle housed in a lustrous terracotta vessel with hand-applied gold pigment.

LOEWE’s signature blend Fiori e Sapori, created with London’s Postcard Teas, combines Indian black tea, French lemon verbena, Moroccan roses, Croatian camomile, and Italian bergamot oil—a global journey in every cup.

This presentation builds on LOEWE’s past explorations, showcasing the brand’s commitment to preserving traditional craftsmanship while pushing the boundaries of contemporary design. LOEWE TEAPOTS positions the house not just as a luxury fashion brand, but as a cultural institution committed to advancing the art of craftsmanship.

LOEWE TEAPOTS will be on display at Palazzo Citterio, Milan, from April 8-13, 2025, coinciding with Salone del Mobile.
