LOEWE Brings Its Artistic Vision to Chicago with a New Oak Street Store

October 27, 2024

Blending historic architecture and contemporary luxury, Spanish fashion house LOEWE has unveiled its latest CASA LOEWE boutique in Chicago's prestigious Oak Street district. The October 7th opening marks a significant expansion of the brand's presence in the American luxury market, occupying a meticulously restored 1890s building.

Spanning 241 square meters across two floors, the boutique exemplifies creative director Jonathan Anderson's distinctive vision of retail as a living art gallery. The space transcends a luxury store, transforming into what evokes an art collector's carefully curated home.

The interior design pays homage to craftsmanship at every turn. Hand-crafted ceramic tiles in deep blue, aquamarine, and rich brown create a sophisticated backdrop, while a sweeping staircase featuring an artisan-made Georgian-inspired wooden handrail serves as an architectural centerpiece. The deliberate combination of concrete, marble, and oak wood materials grounds the space in warmth and authenticity.

The store's artistic soul shines through its carefully selected furniture and artwork. Design enthusiasts will appreciate the iconic Utrecht armchairs and Berin chairs in wood and felt, complemented by contemporary pieces like a striking black terrazzo table and delicate Noguchi lamp. Four bespoke wool carpets featuring British textile artist John Allen's pastoral landscapes add a touch of nature to the urban setting.

The art collection includes significant contemporary works that dialogue with LOEWE's aesthetic philosophy. British artist Lorna Robertson's "Courtyard" (2022) and Richard Hawkins' "Little Girl Inside" (2023) share space with Altoon Sultan's meticulous egg tempera works on calfskin, creating an environment where fashion and fine art coexist naturally.

The boutique houses LOEWE's complete universe of women's ready-to-wear, accessories, and leather goods. The comprehensive selection includes the brand's coveted handbags, shoes, small leather goods, and sunglasses, all displayed within this thoughtfully designed environment.

This latest CASA LOEWE location reinforces the brand's commitment to creating retail spaces that transcend mere commerce, instead offering visitors an immersive experience that celebrates art, design, and fashion in equal measure. The Chicago store joins a global network of boutiques that exemplify LOEWE's sophisticated approach to luxury retail, where shopping becomes an exercise in cultural appreciation.

Bold and whimsical, the CASA LOEWE interiors are as tactile as they are captivating.

Photographed by John Daniel Powers, the store's exterior maintains the architectural integrity of its 19th-century origins while clearly announcing its contemporary purpose through clean lines and elegant window displays. The result is a space that feels both timeless and thoroughly contemporary—a fitting addition to Chicago's luxury retail landscape.
