Louis Vuitton Men’s Ventures into Athletic Territory with LV Footprint Soccer Shoe
December 16, 2024
Within Pharrell Williams' expansive Spring-Summer 2025 men's collection for Louis Vuitton is a meditation on global identities from travelers and workers to athletes and stars. With his first venture into performance footwear, Williams unveils the LV Footprint Soccer shoe, where performance functionality elevates luxury codes and house signatures transform athletic elements.
Crafted with a quilted calf leather upper which extends across the toe, ramp, and heel, its linear construction emphasizes support and aerodynamic requirements of modern soccer cleats. The padded rubber outsole carries an elongated iteration of the house monogram—ingeniously transformed into a five-toed footprint pattern that leaves the LV signature impressed upon soft terrain.
The design's sophistication manifests in its details: a fold-forward leather tongue conceals monogrammed laces beneath a LVERS UNITED emblem. The house's double-L logo appears in amplified proportions through quilted side panels, while a smaller Vuitton stamp in athletics-inspired typography provides contemporary context. The founding year, 1854, marked on the heel, grounds the design in heritage.
The color palette reveals meticulous discipline: monochromatic iterations in noir, blanc, marine, rouge, and forest green, each articulated with white highlights. The outsole continues each primary hue, with tonal printing creating dimensional depth—a technical achievement that merges performance with aesthetics.
Williams' interpretation suggests a new direction for luxury athletic wear—one where performance elements and maison codes achieve equilibrium. The result affirms Louis Vuitton's position in contemporary sportswear while preserving the house's dedication to luxury. The LV Footprint Soccer shoe will be available for pre-order on Louis Vuitton's digital platforms December 26th, followed by a global store launch January 2nd.
