Luxury powerhouse Louis Vuitton transformed the LV Dream space into a mesmerizing showcase of design innovation and artistry for Design Miami.Paris 2024. The exhibition, which runs from October 16 to 20, celebrates the iconic Louis Vuitton Objets Nomades collection and the Maison's enduring collaboration with Estúdio Campana, coinciding with the studio's 40th anniversary.
This exhibition builds on Louis Vuitton's rich history of blending travel and design. Since 1854, the Maison has been at the forefront of innovative design, from Louis Vuitton's original flat-topped trunks in the 1850s to Georges-Louis Vuitton's 1930 desk trunk for conductor Leopold Stokowski. The Objets Nomades collection, launched in 2012, continues this legacy of marrying function with exquisite design.
The exhibition unveils two main themes: a celebration of Estúdio Campana's 40th anniversary and work, and a glimpse into the art of living à la Louis Vuitton through a showcased apartment. On the ground floor, visitors are greeted by a captivating array of Objets Nomades designed by Estúdio Campana. The Brazilian design duo's creations, from the whimsical Bomboca with its cloud-like forms to the captivating Bulbo chair resembling a tropical flower, showcase a masterful blend of color, fine materials, and exquisite craftsmanship.
The center of the exhibition is the Cocoon Couture collection. Humberto Campana has reimagined the iconic Cocoon chair with six one-of-a-kind pieces inspired by Brazilian folklore. Each Cocoon is a floating work of art, crafted by haute couture artisans using lavish textures and refined materials. Each of the six Cocoon pieces draws inspiration from different aspects of Brazilian folklore, from mystical creatures to guardians of nature, showcasing the rich cultural tapestry of Campana's homeland. The collection includes pieces like the Jaci model with over 11,000 brass studs, and the Cocoon Couture Curupira, honoring the guardian of Brazilian rainforests with intricate embroidery and sequins.
The Cocoon Couture Matinta, a mysterious creation cloaked in shimmering blue-to-black feathers, is a standout piece crafted by the prestigious Maison Lemarié. Adding to the visual spectacle is the unveiling of the new Kaléidoscope Cabinet. This hypnotic piece, composed of over 500 colorful leather marquetry elements, required 200 hours of meticulous artisanal work. It's a limited edition of eight, exploring the infinite possibilities of leather craftsmanship. Furthermore, this spectacular object opens with concealed handles to reveal several storage spaces and shelves lined with precious leather, echoing the spirit of Louis Vuitton's historical trunks.
The exhibition extends beyond individual pieces to showcase a complete Louis Vuitton interior. The space features the Signature sofa by Franck Chou, Binda armchairs by Raw Edges and Basket coffee tables by Zanellato/Borlotto, alongside iconic Louis Vuitton trunks like the Thé and Café trunks. This comprehensive display illustrates the Maison's holistic approach to design and living. Enhancing the experience, the exhibition includes a screening of 'We The Others' (2024), a film documenting the Campana brothers' creative journey since founding their studio in 1984.
The exhibition continues with a showcase of a signature Louis Vuitton interior, highlighting the Maison's new table art collections. From the innovative Signature sofa by Franck Chou to the playful Constellation porcelain services, each piece embodies the Louis Vuitton art of living. This unprecedented exhibition at Design Miami.Paris 2024 offers a total immersion into Louis Vuitton's world. For those eager to experience the latest in design, the exhibition is open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the LV Dream space. This extraordinary exhibition celebrates Louis Vuitton's design legacy and influence in the world of luxury and art.
