Lucky Love Dazzles in Louis Vuitton at Historic Paris 2024 Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony
August 29, 2024
The Paris 2024 Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony commenced on August 28th with a spectacular performance of 'My Ability' by French artist Lucky Love. For the first time in Paralympic history, the ceremony was held outside a stadium, with athletes parading through the iconic Avenue des Champs-Elysées to Place de la Concorde, where an estimated 65,000 spectators gathered to witness this historic moment.
Draped in Louis Vuitton, the rising star delivered an inspirational performance fit for the occasion, which highlighted the host city's commitment to accessibility and inclusivity. The Games, set to run until September 8th, will feature approximately 4,400 athletes from around the world competing in 22 sports across various iconic venues in Paris.
Designed by Louis Vuitton's Men's Creative Director Pharrell Williams, Lucky Love's outfit caught our attention. Lucky Love wore a white embroidered single-breasted jacket with matching carpenter pants, a white tank top, and black cowboy boots. The look was completed with multiple gold brooches with pearls, gold necklaces, and a pair of aviator sunglasses.
The look perfected rugged charm balanced with luxurious details. Carpenter pants, a nod to workwear chic, spoke to high-low trends trending in menswear juxtaposed with the blazer's intricate embroidery. Black Western cowboy boots grounded the look, lending the outfit a touch of Americana.
The rising artist, who burst onto the music scene with 'Masculinity' in 2023, has quickly become known for his genre-defying sound and introspective lyrics. His performance of 'My Ability' resonated with the Paralympic spirit, emphasizing the Games' focus on athletes' capabilities and the importance of inclusivity in sports.
This performance marks a milestone for Lucky Love and another triumph for Vuitton at the intersection of fashion, music, and sports. As the world watched, the Paralympic spirit continued to inspire, with Love's song of ability and perseverance setting the tone for the Games.
The Paris 2024 Paralympics are making history as the first summer Games in France and have already led to positive changes in the host country, including improved accessibility in Paris's overground transportation. With events taking place at iconic locations such as the Eiffel Tower, the Chateau de Versailles, and the Grand Palais, these Games promise to be a celebration of athletic achievement and cultural heritage.
