Two new trainers

Maison Margiela and Reebok launch the Classic Leather and the Club C Memory Of V2: the two newest trainers conceived as part of the brand's creative dialogue. Released in stores on September 30th, 2022, the latest incarnations of the shoes continue to explore the two classic sneaker designs through the Maison Margiela practice known as the memory of.

The memory of

The memory of denotes the languished impression of a familiar motif still evident within a garment or an accessory: an echo of something that once was, evoked within the creation of something new. In this chapter of Maison Margiela's collaboration with Reebok, Creative Director John Galliano applies the idea to the two sneaker icons through increased deconstruction and re-assemblage. Achieved with knives, scissors, and staplers, the layers of the shoes chip away to reveal the semi-transparent nylons and safety zigzag stitches of their authentic inside construction, effectively reducing the sneakers to the memory of their original designs.

Frames of recongnizability

First featured across five sneakers in the Spring-Summer 2022 collaboration between Maison Margiela and Reebok, the second versions of the Classic Leather and the Club C Memory Of demonstrate a further exploration of the techniques explored in the initial designs by pushing the limits of deconstruction within the frames of recognizability. Each sneaker will be available in triple white and triple black colorways.
