Mattiel just may be the most exciting band to embrace the indie rock scene in over a decade. With a brilliant and broody sound that recalls 60s rock, it’s no wonder Mattiel stands out against the backdrop of a pop genre stuck on repeat. Mattiel seems to answer the question: what would it sound like to bring back 60s rock in a fun, contemporary and exciting way? It works. Her music is refreshing. Her strong vocals delivered in an accosting, clever, way feels long overdue. Much more than bringing back a new sound, Mattiel pushes a good message. “Je Ne Me Connais Pas,” (translated as, I do not know me) has been heralded as an anthem against toxic masculinity. After an eponymous album in 2017 and an EP, “Customer Copy” in 2019, Mattiel is set to release her second full album “Satis Factory” with ATO Records on June 14th. Tour dates below.
