Montblanc Debuts ‘The Journey’ Installation and FW25 Collection at Milan Fashion Week
January 22, 2025
Montblanc reimagined Milan's historic Salone dei Tessuti as an immersive journey through time and creativity this Monday, as the Maison unveiled its Fall-Winter 2025 collections during Milan Fashion Week. The exclusive breakfast preview transformed the storied textile hall into a multisensory celebration of written expression, drawing notable guests including actors Henry Golding and Alex Pettyfer among 200 invited media, influencers, and VIP attendees.
Rising six meters high in the central atrium, "The Tree of Writing" presented over 3,000 handcrafted paper leaves created by Budapest-based Edinas Paper studio. Each leaf, measuring 15cm in length, was crafted from pages of vintage books and inscribed with quotes selected by Marco Tomasetta, including excerpts from Italo Calvino and Jorge Luis Borges. Complementing this centerpiece, Andrea Roggi's three-meter bronze sculpture "Words Take Flight" featured 147 individually cast bronze pages emerging from an olive tree trunk, each patinated to reflect the aging of well-loved books.
The Fall-Winter 2025 collection centered on the Writing Traveller, a sophisticated briefcase-handbag hybrid that marries form with function. The design features dedicated compartments for writing instruments, a padded tablet sleeve, and a removable notebook holder.

New additions to the line include the Mini Bowling series (available in three sizes from 20cm to 35cm) and convertible micro-crossbody wallets. The collection's materials showcase Montblanc's signature grained leather alongside new finishes: a textured ostrich print and a reimagined 1924 Serpent pattern jacquard. The palette reflects Mont Blanc's natural landscape with glacier white, granite grey, and pine green, balanced by deep burgundy accents.

"Since the beginning, Montblanc has designed pieces to accompany people on their journeys—whether crossing borders and cultures or exploring life by putting pen to paper," explained Tomasetta. "Paying homage to this concept at Milan Fashion week, a global destination where boundless creativity converges and people travel to from around the world, seemed only fitting."

The presentation environment served as a narrative journey through Montblanc's storied heritage. An entrance corridor recreated the golden age of train travel, drawing focus on the brand's pioneering 1920s safety pens alongside vintage advertising. This historical foundation was balanced by its first venture into furniture design - the Montblanc Desk. Conceived by Tomasetta as a contemporary interpretation of the writing space, the desk invited guests to experience the timeless ritual of putting pen to paper.

Through this immersive presentation at Salone dei Tessuti, Montblanc reaffirmed its position at the intersection of heritage craftsmanship and contemporary luxury. From the soaring "Tree of Writing" to the innovative Writing Traveller collection, each chapter celebrated the transformative power of the journey. Guiding the Maison from its pioneering days of safety pens to its current evolution in luxury design, Montblanc honors the art of writing while reimagining luxury for a new generation.
