RAISON D'ÊTRE

RAISON D'ÊTRE

RAISON D’ÊTRE invites the viewer into a space of reflection — where clothing becomes a conduit for inquiry, and the self is both subject and canvas. Taking its title from the French phrase reason for being, the editorial explores the boundaries between fashion and philosophy, anchoring the abstract in tactile form.

Stylist Martin Metcalf curates a layered conversation between structure and sentiment — the conceptual edge of FENG CHEN WANG and ZIHAN LIU finds counterpoint in the romantic dissonance of SIMONE ROCHA and COMME DES GARÇONS SHIRT. The narrative stretches further in JOHN LAWRENCE SULLIVAN’s sharp minimalism, the ornate restraint of McQUEEN, and LOEWE’s poetic irreverence.

In Chandler, the clothes find a mirror in a figure that challenges the viewer to rethink fashion not as adornment, but as identity in motion. Thanos Poulimenos frames each shot with meditative clarity — images that feel suspended in time, holding equal parts feeling and form. The result is less a fashion story and more a portrait of becoming: where style is not the answer, but the question itself.
