Rising Stars Compete for €400k and Glory at 2024 LVMH Prize

The LVMH Prize for Young Fashion Designers has unveiled its 8 finalists for the 2024 edition, each poised to present their groundbreaking collections to a star-studded jury in Paris on September 10th. These rising talents, hailing from across the globe, were selected from a pool of over 2,500 applicants, a testament to the competition's growing prestige and reach.

Among the shortlisted designers are Duran Lantink, celebrated for his gender-fluid creations, and Niccolò Pasqualetti, known for his exquisite handcrafted eveningwear. The finalist roster also includes promising newcomers like France's Pauline Dujancourt and Ireland's Michael Stewart, both recognized for their innovative approaches to design.

Delphine Arnault, the driving force behind the LVMH Prize, praised the finalists' diverse creative visions, stating, "The finalists' designs range from entirely hand-made collections to eveningwear, and included upcycled designs. The semi-finalists showed great expertise in terms of craftsmanship and a strong commitment to sustainability."

This year marks the introduction of the Savoir-Faire Prize, which will honor exceptional artisanship, technical innovation, and eco-conscious practices among the finalists. The winner of this new distinction will receive a €200,000 grant and a one-year mentorship program focused on the transmission of specialized skills.

The LVMH Prize and Karl Lagerfeld Prize winners will receive endowments of €400,000 and €200,000, respectively, along with bespoke mentorship from LVMH's renowned team of experts. Additionally, three young fashion school graduates will be awarded €10,000 each and the opportunity to join an LVMH brand's design studio for a year, underscoring the competition's commitment to supporting emerging talent at various stages of their careers.

The 2024 LVMH Prize jury features an impressive lineup of industry luminaries, including Maria Grazia Chiuri, Nicolas Ghesquière, Stella McCartney, and Pharrell Williams. Joining the jury for the first time are Phoebe Philo, founder and artistic director of her eponymous brand, and Pharrell Williams, Louis Vuitton's newly appointed Men's Creative Director.
