Simon Cracker presents the SS23 show, titled ‘Reality Bites.’ Inspired by the 90s film of the same name, the collection looks to reflect the path and experiences in creating a collection as an independent brand.
The result is a punk quality the brand deems as “punkindness.”
We deepened our “punkindness” concept (kind punk which is more effective than violent punk) by mixing a raw aesthetic made of industrial sewings, safety pins, unfinished hems, and graffiti with a more gentle and naive one made by embroidery, ruffles, hand written fabrics that look like children notebooks, hand-printed apples made with a real apple and a color that smells like the fruit itself.
The final result is what’s between the Sex Pistols and Holly Hobbies.”
Materials used in the collection include old cotton and linen bedsheets, upcycled men’s shirts turned into notebook garments, old parachutes, knitwear from discarded wool, cotton, and silk, and recycled jersey – all rebuilt in upcycled tailoring.
