Solange Attends The Met’s ‘Flight into Egypt: Black Artists and Ancient Egypt, 1876–Now’ in Gucci

Solange brought modern elegance to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in a flowing black dress from Gucci's Spring-Summer 2025 collection at the Creative Convening for "Flight into Egypt: Black Artists and Ancient Egypt, 1876–Now."
The design merges antiquity with modernity—its columnar silhouette and strategic cutouts meet at a distinctive halter neckline, secured with gold hardware. Gold metal accessories, including bangles that might have found themselves at home in an ancient Egyptian queen's jewelry collection, completed the thoughtful ensemble.
Against the Met's classical architecture, Solange cut a striking figure that embodied the exhibition's central theme: the ongoing dialogue between Black artists and ancient Egyptian heritage. Her attendance at the Creative Convening, which featured artists and scholars including Awol Erizku and Ming Smith, underscored the exhibition's exploration of how ancient Egyptian imagery and symbolism continue to resonate in contemporary Black cultural expression.
In this moment, the parallels are striking: as curators upstairs trace 150 years of Black artists reclaiming ancient Egyptian heritage, Knowles's sculptural silhouette—stark and elegant against classical columns—writes its own chapter in that ongoing cultural dialogue.
