Spotted: Daisy Edgar-Jones Chloé’s Newest It Girl?

August 1, 2024

When a rising star promotes a promising film and catches the eye of a luxury fashion label, fashion insiders know what's coming: the birth of a brand's new It girl.

In the past, we witnessed Natalie Portman become the embodiment of Dior, donning iconic dresses from the French label and as the face of the Miss Dior fragrance. Over the years, things haven't changed: Lily-Rose Depp became the ultimate Chanel lady, Elle Fanning became the real Miu Miu girl, and Hunter Schafer as the bona fide Prada woman. Production after production, actresses find their fashion home with one of the big houses in a way where cinema meets fashion.

Similarly, Lee Isaac Chung's highly anticipated film, “Twisters,” starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Glen Powell, appears to be no different. After Creative Director Chemena Kamali took over Chloé with the acclaimed Fall 2024 Ready-to-Wear show at Paris fashion week, she seemed poised to spot a new It girl for her tenure at the label. And spot her, she did. According to industry insiders, once Kamali set her eyes on British actress Edgar-Jones, known for her cult-like role as Marianne in "Normal People," or as the lead in the acclaimed "Where the Crawdads Sing," she reportedly knew she had found her muse.

If there's one thing that “Twisters” was destined to be, it was a stage for that connection. While Edgar-Jones has been caught wearing labels Gucci, Vivienne Westwood, Acne Studios and Givenchy in the past, nothing compares to seeing her bring Chloé's fresh boho flair to the streets. Out and about in New York City, the star rocked a see-through butter yellow mini dress — perfect for summer — accessorized with a long necklace and brownish stone, brown flats, and a giant leather chocolate bag that brought to mind Gossip Girl's Serena Van Der Woodsen.

To contrast the bliss and warmth exuded by the first outfit, the actress wore a sleek pair of black tailored pants with a more risqué lingerie-style strap top, accompanied by chunky black heels, and sunglasses to add a touch of mystery.

It wasn't long before she was spotted channeling the bohemian mood again. She strolled the streets of New York wearing Chloé's flowy, sheer baby blue gown, a gold necklace with pineapple and banana pendants, pastel orange boots, and sunglasses—channeling the ultimate Daisy Jones & The Six vibe. Is it a coincidence that they share the same name? Or, did Dani Michelle, the actress' fashion stylist who also dresses stars including Kendall Jenner, Hailey Bieber, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, see the vision right away?

The looks selected by Michelle were all from Kamali's debut collection for the French label. The season was highly praised by industry insiders and fashionistas for its clear homages to past Chloé creative directors – Karl Lagerfeld, Phoebe Philo, Stella McCartney – and for feeling very "now." Beyond the references, the collection was acclaimed for the cool, intuitive feeling of the clothes, its bohemian patterns, the play of textures and volumes, and the front-row guest list including: Alexa Chung, Clemence Poesy, Sienna Miller, Thomasin McKenzie, Kiernan Shipka, Anna Cleveland, Suzy Bemba, and Kathryn Newton—all wearing wooden wedges.

Although Daisy Edgar-Jones did not attend Kamali's debut show for Chloé, the relationship kicked off thanks to stylist, Dani Michelle. With the Spring/Summer 2025 season coming in September, anything can happen, including the actress potentially donning more outfits from the label's Fall/Winter 2024 collection. "A Chloé aw24 run from Daisy Edgar-Jones," wrote fashion commentator @itgirlenergy on X while sharing the star's glimpses. "She is a perfect fit for Chloe," replied fashionista @blusiara.

Practical, playful, and romantic, fashion enthusiasts may have just spotted the new fashion duo set to take the world by storm: not only Kamali's Chloé and the actress but also Michelle and Edgar-Jones.
