Miuccia Prada keeps her finger on the pulse. In the most watched show of Paris Fashion Week, Miu Miu's runway glittered with the modeling debut of "Misidentify" rapper Cortisa Star. Star wore a heavy wool coat in a soft charcoal grey with a timeless fur stole and a black patent leather top handle bag draped on her arm. A muted beige camisole, brown leather loafers and sheer blue knee-high socks were elevated with dangly gold earrings, accenting a look refined in its simplicity.

The show was led by Ukrainian model, dancer, and designer Yura Romaniuk, who wore a light, layerable pink long sleeve over a silky bronze slip skirt; a fur stole and patent leather bag also carried closely on his arm.

Actress Sarah Paulson of Miss America and American Horror Story, flew to Paris to walk for Miu Miu in a black satin trench, green snakeskin heels, and sparkly silver nail polish. As part of the collection's uniform, she had on a black, bell-shaped cloche hat. An antique gold cuff placed over the sleeve was the one piece of jewelry she had on.

The show was an elegant game of dress up, channeling nostalgic moments like a cherished bag that was carefully saved up for and an heirloom brooch gifted by a treasured grandmother. A 1950s influence carried through Miu Miu's collection, its pieces full of stories to be passed down through the generations.

Then, there were the quirks of everyday life. Coats were a little too large, collars left undone. Sport coats with satin blouses were mismatched for occasion. Slip dresses shined liberally without anything worn over them. Straps fell off shoulders in a less sexy and more unbothered sort of way, with thick, supportive bra straps exposed in almost half the looks.

The show's color story had bold moments in red, purple, turquoise, and yellow, but it also had a major presence of neutral shades and subtle prints that go with everything, to be worn again and again.

"We really wanted to create an elegance with nothing," wrote Miuccia in her show notes, "through the everyday, through direct manipulations of simple pieces." Whatever the reasons may be for a general shift towards less-is-more, Miuccia doesn't shy away from the conversation. Aware of the expansive audience her shows command, she creates a platform for the dialogue between the people she designs for and the world around them. In other words, Miu Miu knows what the girls want.
