Alice Vaillant presents the VAILLANT fall winter 2023 collection in Paris.
Collection Notes
Première Danse is a nod to nostalgia, love and our loved ones.
In this collection, Alice Vaillant continues her exploration of the codes of femininity, a femininity that refuses to lock itself into pre-established frameworks, but which is in perpetual reaffirmation. "We live in an era where everything evolves rapidly. My generation is witness to this constant change. That's why I want to build a complete wardrobe that adapts to femininity in all its diversity," says Alice Vaillant.
First Emotions
The Artistic Director of VAILLANT, who graduated from the Paris Opera School of Dance, is inspired by the play of movement, both in the fluidity of fabrics and in the layering of technical garments, which are themselves associated with delicate and sophisticated pieces. Première Danse also refers to one of Alice Vaillant's guilty pleasures: French movie La Boum. "Vic and Poupette having lunch at La Coupole, the quest for unconditional love and intergenerational transmission are themes that touch me a lot," explains the designer. "That's also why I like the idea of showing in a high school, it's the home of the first emotions," she adds.
In this new collection, VAILLANT presents knitwear, denim and shoes for the very first time. The Farfalle ankle boots, with their assertive lines, are made in Italy and complete the VAILLANT silhouette. The brand's new handbag - Clichy - is a playful reference to the address of the design studio on Avenue de Clichy in Paris' 18th arrondissement.
Première Danse
For this Première Danse, VAILLANT offers a new reading of the pieces that have characterized the brand since its beginnings with, for example, the asymmetrical top with lace associated with this season’s color palette. The contrasting lace bands carefully selected in Calais are a now well- established code in VAILLANT's DNA. This winter, VAILLANT partners with Californian lifestyle brand UGG® to reimagine the brands iconic silhouette. The three styles combine the UGG® DNA with an 80s twist, inspired by dancers' gaiters and ski boots.
Aware of the environmental challenges of its time, VAILLANT is constantly seeking a balance between creation and production, while remaining environmentally conscious: product traceability, European production, certified materials.
