Vivienne Westwood unveils its 2023 Sun collection full of sunglasses just in time for summer. The collection imagines sunglasses as icons by exploring styles immortalized by 60s and 60s Hollywood glitterati.
A series of characters, the new collection launches today in stores and online. The timeless styles are all crafted in hand-made frames in Acetate Renew, a 60% bio-based and 40% certified recyclable material. Its formed from FSC certified wood pulp and recycled waste plastic.

The Sun Collection
The collection combines vintage ultra-femine frames with colors in exaggerated proportions. Inspiration draws from heroines; Moira Orfei, the queen of the Italian circus, Gina Lollobrigida’s earthy sexuality, and Sophia Loren’s Neapolitan glamour.

Dutch masters inspire the collection’s rich colour palette, the futurist ‘heart’ shaped visors - a motif synonymous with the house, wash the face with color. Statement frames adopt tortoise shells in deep tones or gradients of color, transitioning from dark rust to soft pink and cobalt blue to forest green. The iconic Vivienne Westwood orb can be seen encapsulated in an oval frame inspired by Georgian jewelry lockets or branded into button finishings, creating the 1960’s inspired look.
