Wooyoungmi spring summer 2022

June 27, 2021

"A call for light in the evolving aftermath of dark times," proclaims Madame Woo for the Spring/Summer 2022 Wooyoungmi collection shown in Paris. The collection takes Julian Barnes' book, The Man in the Red Coat, a historical book set in the Belle Époque period in Paris, as a starting point.

Informed by "contemporary decadence and wistful escape," this season wastes no time transposing classic elements like the outline of an inverness cape into a hoodie. One of the interesting aspects are glow-in-the-dark treatments that take t-shirts and other garments into a glorious moment. It's no surprise then that the unofficial motto of the collection becomes, "Chacun Mérite sa propre Belle Époque," which means "everyone deserves their own beautiful time."
