Zendaya Brings the Takashi Murakami Cherry Blossom Motif to Life for Louis Vuitton Spring 2025 Reimagined Collaboration, Chapter Two
By Fashion Editorial Staff
Louis Vuitton unveils the second chapter of its iconic collaboration with Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. This new collection, focused on Murakami's whimsical Cherry Blossom motif, is a joyful tribute to Japan’s sakura season—a time of renewal, optimism, and new beginnings.
Photographed by the celebrated Dutch duo Inez and Vinoodh, the campaign stars Louis Vuitton House Ambassador Zendaya. In two ethereal, collage-style images from the print campaign, Zendaya is captured among Murakami's signature pink flowers, their smiling petals floating across softly lit cityscapes. These dreamlike visuals will grace print worldwide starting today, March 1st, in an "era-hopping celebration" of the re-edition collection and the original collaboration's cultural impact.

Two decades after their groundbreaking collaboration first took shape, the French luxury house has reimagined the artist's beloved designs through digital printing technology. The Cherry Blossom motif, now more vivid than ever, appears across over 40 pieces, from City Bags to platform sandals, extending the collaboration’s timeless appeal.

Signature pieces from the collection include reworked versions of classic Louis Vuitton accessories such as the Capucines Mini and the OnTheGo in Monogram canvas, alongside fresh interpretations of the Papillon and Speedy 25. For collectors, the Cherry Blossom theme is beautifully showcased on the Courrier Lozine 110 Fleurs trunk, where physical patches of the motif are affixed to the surface.

The collection also expands into Louis Vuitton’s fragrance line, with the Cherry Blossom motif adorning the Spell on You perfume bottle, its packaging, and even the glass dome of the Ultimate Flacon.
While the collaboration evokes nostalgia for the original 2003 partnership—when Murakami’s Monogram Multicolore bags took the fashion world by storm—the timing of this reedition feels particularly poignant.

The Cherry Blossom collection will be pre-launched online at LouisVuitton.com on March 14th, with the full release on March 21st, perfectly timed with Japan’s cherry blossom season. For fashion enthusiasts and collectors alike, this reimagined collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami promises to reignite the exuberant spirit that made the original collection a cultural phenomenon—combining craftsmanship, cutting-edge technology, and a touch of nostalgia to capture the joy of the season.
