Givenchy Opens Rodeo Drive Flagship In Historic Frank Lloyd Wright Building

August 5, 2024

In an exciting moment for fashion and architecture, French fashion house Givenchy unveils its first permanent Los Angeles flagship store. With a sophisticated choice, the house selected the iconic Frank Lloyd Wright-designed building at 332 North Rodeo Drive as its West Coast flagship, creating a retail experience that captures the excitement of its collections with the thrill of architectural history.

A Historic Home for Givenchy

As you approach the nearly 8,000-square-foot structure, you are greeted with Wright's visionary design and Givenchy's contemporary elegance. The building, completed in 1954, is a stalwart of mid-century modernism. Its clean lines and innovative use of light and space provide the perfect backdrop to house Givenchy’s cutting-edge collections.

Valerie Leon, President of the Americas at Givenchy, explains the choice: "Given Hubert de Givenchy's love of art and architecture, the Frank Lloyd Wright building felt like the right choice, and the opportunity to bring Givenchy to life there was inspiring." It's a sentiment that resonates throughout the space, where every detail has been carefully considered to honor the heritage of the iconic building and esteemed fashion house.

A Masterclass in Restoration

The restoration process, led by experts Victor Fuentes and Flora Chou, ensured the building’s architectural preservation during its Givenchy renovation. Original diamond-scored concrete ceilings and floors have been lovingly restored, while Wright's signature orange flooring adds a bold touch that also happens to feel unmistakably Givenchy. The uncovering of two original fireplaces lends an intimate, nearly residential feeling to the space.

It’s not only about looking back. The store's design expertly blends the old with the new, creating a space to shop that feels both timeless and thoroughly modern. An archival tiger print fabric, once used by Hubert de Givenchy in his own home, adds a playful pop of pattern to upholstery and stairwells, bridging the gap between the house's rich history and its contemporary vision.

Covetable Fall Collection

The Givenchy flagship opens with the acclaimed Fall 2024 Pre-Collection, offering a tantalizing glimpse of the season to come. For the sun-soaked streets of LA, the Givenchy Plage line provides the perfect high-summer wardrobe. Sharp tailoring and modern eveningwear cater to the city's glamorous nightlife.

Accessories highlights include the Antigona Cube – a fresh take on the classic style – to the Voyou hobo bag, a blend French sophistication with a touch of American edge. Also, don’t forget the iconic Shark Lock boots, a wardrobe essential.

Exclusive Rodeo Drive Treasures

For those seeking something truly special, the store offers a selection of LA-exclusive pieces that are sure to become instant collectors' items. The Rodeo Drive Limited Edition Shark Lock Cowboy Boot in white leather with turquoise stitching is a nod to the store's location, while the Mini Antigona Lock Bag, adorned with turquoise strass stitching, offers a touch of red-carpet-worthy glamour.

As Givenchy plants its flag (quite literally – atop a beautifully restored spire) on Rodeo Drive, it's clear this new flagship is a must-visit destination that proves luxury retail can be an art form in itself.
